Library Planning and Development aims to empower the local library community through dialogue, funding, and consulting services. Our mission is to ensure that Nevada's libraries are a place of learning that mirrors the rapid demographic and technological changes in our state. With a projected growth of 15% over the next 10 years, Nevada's libraries are in the unique position of being able to offer job training, research opportunities, continuing education, and youth services for Nevada residents--both in large urban and small rural areas.
Our main source of funding is through the Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA), a federally funded grant program from the Institute of Library & Museum Services (IMLS). With over $1.5 million disbursed to our state annually, we are able to fund projects that might otherwise go unfunded. In this way we are able to ensure that our library community stays vibrant.
